Marquis Gray Danby is a grey marble quarried in the United States, its name recalling the renowned Danby marbles traditionally extracted in Vermont. It typically shows a light grey background of fine, compact grain, crossed by soft grey to black veining that lends the surface a calm, architectural character. The stone is valued for flooring, wall cladding, bathroom vanities, kitchen countertops, stairs and fireplace surrounds, in both classic and contemporary settings. Polished, honed and brushed finishes all enhance its veining, with honed particularly appreciated for large floors. Marmi di Carrara supplies Marquis Gray Danby as blocks, slabs in 2 and 3 cm and cut-to-size pieces, with photos of the actual slabs before purchase.
