Calacatta Vagli Rosato: complete guide
Overview
Calacatta Vagli Rosato is an Apuan marble with a white background and delicate pinkish hues, crossed by grey veins. It is sought after for its warm elegance and the broad pattern typical of Calacatta.
History and origin
It takes its name from Vagli, in the Garfagnana on the Lucca side of the Apuan Alps, where several varieties of Calacatta are quarried. The pink version stands out for a slight pink tone in the background, which varies between blocks and makes the material particularly recognisable. It is used above all in bathrooms, cladding and prestigious furnishings. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.
Appearance
The white background shows more or less evident pinkish veils, across which run broad grey veins, sometimes with beige tones. The pink tone is subtle and changes between slabs, also depending on the light in the room. Polished, it shows the depth of its hues; honed, it looks lighter and more uniform.
Uses
Ideal for bathrooms, feature walls, tops, washbasins, tables and interior floors. It can be used in the kitchen with the usual precautions for marble, while it is not recommended outdoors, where it would lose its lustre and hues.
Care and maintenance
Clean with water and neutral soap, avoiding limescale removers and aggressive detergents. A protective impregnating sealer helps preserve the light background from oil and cosmetic stains.
