Hopton Wood is a classic limestone from the United Kingdom, quarried in Derbyshire, England, and long prized for churches, monuments and fine interiors. It shows a warm beige and cream background with a fine, fairly uniform grain and subtle fossil remains that give the surface a quiet, even character rather than bold veining. The stone is valued for flooring, wall cladding, staircases, worktops and masonry details; it takes a good polish, though honed, brushed and sandblasted finishes are equally popular. Marmi di Carrara supplies Hopton Wood as blocks, slabs 2/3 cm and cut-to-size pieces, sending photos of the actual slabs before purchase so buyers can approve the material.
