Kanfanar limestone, also known as Giallo D'istria, is an organogenic limestone quarried in Croatia, in the Istrian peninsula. Its beige and cream background shows a fine, uniform microcrystalline grain with small fossil shell remains and soft, cloudy tonal variations rather than pronounced veining. This compact, elegant stone is widely used for flooring, wall cladding, façades, stairs, window sills and interior design elements, in both traditional and contemporary projects. Kanfanar takes all main finishes well: honed and polished for interiors, brushed, sandblasted or bush-hammered for outdoor use and anti-slip surfaces. Marmi di Carrara supplies Kanfanar limestone as blocks, slabs 2 and 3 cm and cut-to-size pieces, with photos of the actual slabs before purchase.
