Perlato Svevo marble: the complete guide
Overview
Perlato Svevo is a light beige Apulian stone, compact and bright, quarried in the Apricena basin. Versatile indoors and outdoors.
History and origin
It is quarried at Apricena, in the province of Foggia, one of the main stone districts of southern Italy, known for "pietra di Apricena". The name recalls the Swabian history of Apulia under Frederick II. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.
Appearance
A light beige background with slight mottling and darker veins, a uniform, natural look. Polished it gains a pearly effect; brushed it is warm and textured.
Uses
Floors, cladding, stairs, thresholds, façades and street furniture. With non-slip finishes it is used for terraces and outdoor spaces.
Care and maintenance
Neutral detergents and water for routine cleaning; no acids or aggressive de-icing salts. Outdoors a water-repellent limits dirt, moss and absorption; indoors a stain-proof sealer protects tops and floors. The surface can be re-honed over time.
