Verde Aver: the complete guide
Overview
Verde Aver is a green marble from the Aosta Valley, dark and deep, marked by light veins. It is a classic choice for those who want an intense green with an Italian tradition.
History and origin
It is quarried in the Aosta Valley, a region rich in green rocks of ophiolitic origin, and is among the best-known Italian green marbles on the market. It has been used in architecture and interiors for floors, cladding, columns and tops, often combined with white marbles. Geologically it belongs to the serpentine rocks sold as marbles. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.
Appearance
The background ranges from bottle green to almost black green, with white, light green or grey veins forming networks and fragments. The density and direction of the veins change from slab to slab, sometimes with brecciated effects. Polishing enhances the contrast and depth of colour, while honed and brushed finishes give a more discreet effect.
Uses
It is suitable for indoor floors and cladding, bathrooms, stairs, tables, fireplaces and inlays. Outdoors it tends to lose its shine, so it is best limited to interiors.
Care and maintenance
Neutral detergents and a soft cloth are enough for daily cleaning. Avoid acidic products and treat the surface with a stain-proofing product; for installation it is advisable to use adhesives suitable for moisture-sensitive green marbles.
