African Juparana Granite: complete guide
Overview
African Juparana is a veined granite with a pinkish grey background and well-defined dark and light waves. It is chosen for resistant surfaces with a natural, dynamic pattern.
History and origin
It is also sold as Juparana Africa and is widely available on the international market as an imported granite. Despite the name, the designation is commercial and does not guarantee an African origin: this should be checked on the batch. It belongs to the group of veined granites of metamorphic origin. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.
Appearance
The pinkish grey background is crossed by wavy dark grey, white and pink veins, sometimes with dark garnets. The pattern is marked and changes from slab to slab. Polished, it offers sharp contrasts; honed or brushed, it has a softer, more uniform look.
Uses
Suitable for kitchen worktops, floors, stairs, bathrooms and exterior cladding. For outdoor paving a flamed or bush-hammered finish is recommended.
Care and maintenance
It only requires cleaning with neutral detergents. A protective treatment is useful on worktops and surfaces exposed to stains.
