Asa Branca Granite: the complete guide
Overview
Asa Branca is a light Brazilian granite, with a creamy white background and golden veins and shadings. It offers the bright look of light stones with the robustness of a granite.
History and origin
The name, which means 'white wing' in Portuguese, is also the title of a famous folk song from north-eastern Brazil. The material is one of the light, 'exotic' granites exported by Brazil in large-format slabs. It is popular in residential kitchens and bathrooms. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.
Appearance
The background is creamy white, crossed by golden, beige and sometimes grey veins and undulations. The movement can be marked and varies considerably between slabs, even from the same block. Polishing intensifies the golden tones, while a honed finish gives a softer look.
Uses
Ideal for kitchen worktops, islands, bathroom vanity tops and wall cladding. It also works well as an indoor floor. Being light, it requires careful stain-proofing treatment, especially in the kitchen.
Care and maintenance
Apply a stain-proofing impregnating sealer after installation and renew it according to use. Clean with neutral detergents and wipe up wine, oil and coffee immediately. Avoid bleach and aggressive products on polished surfaces.
