Giallo Reale: the complete guide
Overview
Giallo Reale is a yellow marble in warm, bright tones, with light ochre and ivory veins. It is chosen for classic, refined interiors, where colour should add warmth without excess.
History and origin
It is also offered as Giallo Reale Classico and in the Marmi di Carrara catalogue it is one of the exclusive materials. Yellow marbles have been prized since antiquity for polychrome floors and inlays, and are still in demand today for interiors with a classic feel. It is supplied in blocks, slabs and calibrated tiles. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.
Appearance
The background is straw yellow, sometimes tending towards honey, with ochre, golden and white veins irregularly distributed. The intensity of the yellow can vary considerably between blocks, so it is useful to choose slabs from the same batch. Polishing makes it brilliant and deep, while satin and brushed finishes lighten it to a softer tone.
Uses
The catalogue offers it for floors, cladding, bathrooms, washbasins, tables, stairs, fireplaces and inlays. It is very effective in inserts and compositions with white or black marbles. Not recommended for exteriors or heavily used kitchen worktops.
Care and maintenance
Use only neutral products, because acids discolour and dull the yellow. A stain-proofing impregnator protects bathroom tops and floors. Scratches and dullness can be removed by re-polishing.
