Jet Mist is a fine-grained granite from the United States, also known on the market as Virginia Mist. The stone shows a deep grey-black background crossed by soft, cloud-like swirls of lighter grey and white, giving the surface a misty, flowing movement rather than strong veining. Its uniform grain and low contrast make it a versatile choice for kitchen countertops, bathroom vanities, flooring, stairs and wall cladding, in both residential and commercial projects. Jet Mist granite works well polished for a sleek look, honed for a matte feel, or leathered and flamed for textured, slip-resistant surfaces. Marmi di Carrara supplies it as blocks, slabs 2/3 cm and cut-to-size pieces, with photos of the actual slabs before purchase.

Jet Mist Granite: complete guide
Overview
Jet Mist is a black-grey stone from Virginia, shot through with a fine haze of light crystals. It is chosen when an elegant black is wanted that is less uniform and severe than an absolute black.
History and origin
Jet Mist is quarried in the eastern United States and is widespread above all on the North American market for kitchen worktops and cladding. The name recalls its characteristic 'mist' of light specks on a dark background. It is a stone commercially classed as granite, valued for its refined appearance even with matt finishes. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.
Appearance
The background is black with grey highlights, scattered with tiny white and grey flecks that create a misty effect. The density of the speckling may vary slightly from one slab to another. Polished, it looks deep and almost mirror-like, while with brushed or antiqued finishes it takes on a very contemporary anthracite grey tone.
Uses
Highly suitable for kitchen worktops, islands, bathroom vanity tops and window sills, thanks to its low porosity. It also works for floors, stairs and exterior cladding. On matt finishes fingerprints are less visible than on polished ones, something to consider for heavily used kitchens.
Care and maintenance
A wipe with a damp cloth and neutral detergent is sufficient for everyday use. On brushed finishes a water- and oil-repellent treatment prevents grease marks and keeps the colour even.
