Rosa Minho Granite: the complete guide
Overview
Rosa Minho Granite is a Portuguese pink granite with a delicate shade and a regular grain. It is appreciated for paving and cladding with a bright, natural look.
History and origin
The name recalls Minho, a region in northern Portugal bordering Galicia, an area rich in granitic rocks. In northern Portugal granite has for centuries been the main building material, used for houses, churches and paving. Rosa Minho belongs to the range of Portuguese pink granites exported as slabs and fabricated pieces. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.
Appearance
The background is soft pink, with grey quartz crystals and small dark mica specks. The distribution of the minerals is generally uniform, with moderate variations in colour intensity. Polished, it takes on a livelier pink; bush-hammered and flamed, it becomes pale pink, almost beige.
Uses
It lends itself to outdoor floors, squares, garden paths, steps and façades, as well as indoor floors and worktops. It is a good alternative to grey granites when a warmer tone is wanted.
Care and maintenance
Clean with neutral detergents; avoid concentrated bleach, which can leave marks. Outdoors, periodic brushing keeps the surface clean and slip-resistant.
