Samoa Granite: complete guide
Overview
Samoa granite is a Brazilian granite in golden-beige tones, with grey and dark crystals. It is chosen for kitchen worktops and hard-wearing surfaces in warm shades.
History and origin
It comes from Brazil, one of the world's leading producers of coloured granites. Brazilian beige and golden granites have been widespread on the international market for decades, particularly for kitchen worktops and bathrooms. Pattern and shade vary according to the quarrying area. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.
Appearance
The background is golden beige, with grey quartz crystals, light feldspars and dark specks irregularly distributed, sometimes with slight movement. Between slabs the colour can vary from cream to a more intense gold. Polishing enhances the depth of the crystals; honed and brushed finishes give a more matt, natural effect.
Uses
Highly suitable for kitchen worktops, bathroom vanity tops, floors, stairs and exterior cladding. It resists scratches, heat and household acids well. With light granites, a treatment to limit oil stains is advisable.
Care and maintenance
Clean with water and a neutral detergent. Apply a stain-proofing impregnator at installation and renew it when water no longer beads. Avoid overly aggressive products that can alter the polish.
